One of the promising biomarker classes for diagnosis and prognosis of various diseases is that of short-chain non-coding microRNAs (miRNA), which have been shown to be reliable indicators of cell as well as immune status. Through this study, we aim to further determine the function of miRNAs with highly variable expression ("variable miRNAs"), which, according to preliminary data, exhibit variable expression and are positively correlated with the number of regulatory T cells. Here, we will examine whether variable miRNAs regulate the generation of CD4+ regulatory T cells by inhibiting mTOR activity.
