Summary

Osteoma is a benign tumor of mesenchymal osteoplastic nature composed of well-differentiated osseous tissue with laminar structure. Osteomas are extremely rare in the temporal and mastoid bone and mostly occur in the external auditory canal. Temporal bone in general constitute 0.1 ย– 1% of all benign tumours of skull. Causes reported in literature include previous surgery, radiotherapy, chronic infection, trauma, and hormonal factors.
