Summary

Thyroidectomyis one of the most common surgeries performed worldwide for a number of benign and malignant conditions. Postoperative pain after thyroid surgery is moderate in intensity with postoperative pain scales ranging from 6 to 7/10 on a visual analogic scale. Up to 90% of patients require narcotic analgesics on the first day after surgery. Hence, this study is designed to assess the efficacy of bilateral intermediate cervical plexus block (ICPB) in comparison with local wound infiltration (LWI) in reducing post-operative pain and additional opioid requirement within the first 24 h after surgery.
